The Gibraltar-Israel Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Jewish New Year in an event hosted by His Worship Mayor Christian Santos at City Hall.
Members and contacts of Gibrael were treated to traditional foods that symbolise the festival, such as deeping an apple in honey as a wish for a sweet Year ahead. His Worship the Mayor highlighted his commitment to maintaining the harmony of Gibraltar’s multicultural community and alluded to the work done by Gibrael Chamber in strengthening the business and commercial ties between Gibraltar and Israel, even during the pandemic. Mayor Santos then led the audience in raising a toast of Le’Chaim (cheers) for the New Year.
Commenting on the event, Gibrael Chairwoman Ayelet Mamo Shay said: “We are honoured that the new Mayor, His Worship Christian Santos, has chosen to mark the new Jewish Year by hosting Gibrael at City Hall. No doubt this is the beginning of a great friendship that will benefit Gibraltar as a whole.”
